IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark
Brown
December 29, 1961 – July 25, 2024
Mark Steven Brown, 62, of Halfway, MO passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024. He was born December 29, 1961, in Avalon, CA.
His story began in Catalina Island, where he was raised by his grandmother, Wilma for the first six years of his life and went by "Skipper White", before being reunited with his mother and siblings. He attended Ramona High School, earned his GED, and proudly served as Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, driving amphibious assault vessels. He toured Okinawa, Japan and Incheon, South Korea during his service. In 1982, he married his first wife, Mari Y. Bahk, and together they had three children of whom, Mark was extremely proud. He was a lover of knowledge, and, although he never graduated college, he was a lifetime learner. He particularly enjoyed history and had at one time been very proficient at computer networking.
He enjoyed labors of love, such as wood working, tending to his dogs, and working on his land. He had a colorful professional history, with various job titles, including but not limited to sanitation, bread baking, computer repair, network information technology, and commercial truck driving. No matter the job, he always put forth all he had into his work, and he worked tirelessly, up to his last day on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Eleanor Hoefs; by his father, Clint R. Freeman; his grandmother, Wilma Lucas; and by his grandparents, William and Betty Freeman.
He is survived by his daughter, Katrina Lopez (nee Brown), her wife Cynthia and their daughter Olivia. He is survived by his daughter, Anita Brown, her sons Matteo, Jun, and Isaiah, her daughter Miranda, and her fiancée Alfred Lugo. He is survived by his son, Christopher Brown, his wife Chelsea, and their son Elijah. He is also survived by his brothers, William Schumacher and Robert McCauley along with their families, and his sisters, Cinthia Brown and Carolyn Hildebrand along with their families.
Mark is also survived by his ex-wives, former stepchildren, former step-grandchildren, and his girlfriend, Mary Helton. Last, but certainly not least, he is survived by his beloved dogs, Bonnie, Clyde, and Lady.
