"Mara (Marie) Ellen McCoy, 55, died June 29, 2022.

Mara was a living example of the phrase, "hearing the beat of her own drummer". She lived a life of pain but never stopped trying to bring beauty and creativity into her own and other people's existence. She was an artist, actor, advocate, musician, and activist.  She planted seeds that eventually grew and became even bigger than she had imagined.

She didn't ever fully "fit in" but she just kept living her life in her own way.She was courageous in so many ways, even in the face of judgement and debilitating health issues. She brought a lot of beauty to this world, and she is missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sue Ellen Whitcomb McCoy; and niece, Paula Marie McCoy.

She is survived by her father, Francis McCoy; stepmother, Karen McCoy; her sisters, Charlene Wilke and Michele McCoy; her brother, Michael McCoy and sister-in-law Jennifer McCoy; and two nephews, Jacob and Evan McCoy, as well as her beloved bird, Wiggy.

May she finally find peace in the comfort of her mother's and niece's souls."
