Obituary

Mackey Eugene Bellamy, 65, of Fair Grove, MO passed from this life to enter into his eternal home that he has been preparing for, for the last 29 ½ years. As much as he is missed (and as big as the void is in our hearts and lives)  his friends and family are praising God that he is at the feet of Jesus!

The date of his earthly departure was July 28, 2021. Mackey was born April 5, 1956 in Springfield, MO, to John Allen and Gladys Mary Ellen Bellamy. Mackey came from a large family of 14 children and had a twin Sister, Maxine. Mackey had a strong bond with his twin and when she passed on with MS, this impacted him for the rest of his life.  His siblings always joked as adults as they looked back on their childhood as to who would be in the bathwater last, and it was usually the younger ones!  He often told a fond story with tears in his eyes of their sweet Mama, (who stood maybe 4 feet tall)  and how she got bloody knuckles from washing out all of their dirty clothes on a wringer washer.

Mackey was loved by so many people; he was like a magnet that drew people to him. He brought a light hearted view of any situation and he never knew a stranger. At Grizzly Industrial where he worked for 22 years and retired from, friends  he worked with Darrell and Jerome, called him "P Diddy" because he was the "smoothest Hillbilly" they ever knew. He once re-built the engine on Darrell's  forklift at work and surprised him with flames on the side like a hotrod. It was the fastest forklift in the place! Mackey was also honored to work at Grizzly next to his friend and his Pastor, Randy for many years.

Mackey went by other names as well, "Papa" "Gampa" "Grandpa"  by his grandkids, "Maxwell" by his son in law, Andy, "Mackles" by his friend Bruce, "Wad" by Kari (also who he nick named, Sister K)  "Uncle Wad" by Eli,  "Mad Dog" by his buddy, Derl Allen, "Daddy" by his two beautiful daughters and  "Sweetheart" by his wife.

Mackey used to go hunting before he gave his heart to the Lord, he told his wife and friends, "I just can't do it anymore." He said he would look that deer in the eye and think of how beautiful God's creation was and he personally couldn't kill it. Although he did enjoy a good deer steak, so there you go! Lol. This occasion also reminded him of the Bible verse, "As the Deer panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee. "  Psalm 42: 2. Mackey was not perfect, but he was a man after God's heart.

Mackey's life is one that shows how God can transform an alcohol using, drug addict into a Mentor, Deacon, Teacher, Usher and born-again believer and worker in God's Kingdom!  He taught teenagers in the past and prayed daily for his children and grandchildren to be blessed, convicted and led by God. He enjoyed volunteering at church, working with his church family, especially his brother, Jon, who he called "Sonny Boy."

When he set his mind to do something, there was no stopping him, whether you agreed or not! This determination led him to complete his GED at the age of 50 and then he attended some college classes.  His family was so proud of him for this and so many other things!

He loved the outdoors and was a logger at Ball Timber Company for many years, he worked alongside his friend Marvin and Jack Hicks, Marvin's Dad. Both of these men were instrumental in setting an example of living a life for God. Mackey was a woodworker and loved to turn bowls. He would spend hours in the workshop making beautiful works of art out of old, pieces of stump that no one could imagine their beauty…  but he could envision it. Mackey first learned of this art from his Father-in-Law, Rick, who Mackey called "Farmer."  They spent many hours in the shop together.

Mackey loved motorcycles and was the owner of a Honda Sabre, named " Maribelle" and then traded this in for a Harley, his wife named "Marley."  He also loved working on and collecting old trucks and hotrods when he was younger. He enjoyed simple days of yard work, gardening and landscaping with his wife, working in his wood shop, riding his motorcycle and trying to find adventures with our girls and grandkids.

Mackey was a tender man and gentle soul; but he also could also get pretty "riled up"  in a heartbeat if you messed with his girls, grandkids or family!  He was man enough to act silly with his girls and he treasured his family and friends. He was very blessed to have such a loving church family. We will all try to carry on, step by step and smile when we think of you through our tears, Mackey!  You were "One of a Kind" and it will be but just a moment, that we will see you again and forever worship our blessed Savior with you!  John 3:16 & 17.

He loved his children and animals and spending time with his family. If something needed fixing, he was the man for the job. From electrical work, landscaping, plumbing or mending his girl's broken hearts and providing an ear to listen and shoulder to lean on,  he was a very dedicated man to his family, wife and God.

Mackey was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Lois Jean (who passed at birth) John Allen, Mary, Bonnie, Maxine, Diana, Audrey, David, Charles and Terry.  He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bobbi and their daughters Ryan Clark (Pokey Jo) (Andy) and Jamey Fortner (Sister Sue)  and his grandchildren, Joshua (24) (Cricket) Sam (18) (Bean) Zoie (22) (ZoZo)  Liam (14) (Lelo) and Vann (9) (VanMeister)  He is also survived by his sister Viola (John Adney (Shike) and his brothers, Jimmy (Glenda) and Mark Bellamy, his mother in law, Ann Moore (Roger) his mother in law Sandi Kelley (Tom Wilz)  his brother in law Shane Kelley (Fernando Figueroa) brother in law, David Kelley, brother in law, Levi and sister in law, Kari Kelley, his two God Daughter's Gabrielle and Kaitlin,  and many, many nieces and nephews (and greats)  cousins and many, many dear friends and his sweet little doggy Solo.
