Lyle William Benson, 66, of Long Lane, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was born in Detroit, MI, November 4, 1949, to Lyle and Margaret Benson.

Lyle served in the United States Army in Vietnam. After returning home, he went on to graduate summa cum laude from Wayne State.

Lyle had a wonderful sense of humor and generous nature. He greatly loved his family and strived to care for them in every way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry Benson.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Benson; children, Lyle Benson and wife Annie, James Benson and wife Jenelle, Shelly Martinez and husband Pastor and Sarah Kelly; grandchildren, Robert Kelly, and Celeste, Marcus, Hezekiah and Elianna Martinez; siblings, Ronnie Benson and wife Vickie, Marlene Sawyers and husband Roger, Kim Benson, Beverly Benson and Tim Benson; nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, 2026 W Woodland St, Springfield, MO. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 2 PM, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery will full Military Honors.
