IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
Ward
October 7, 1950 – January 9, 2024
On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Linda Kay Ward passed away peacefully in Springfield, Missouri after a trying battle against cancer. Born to parents Myrtle Austin and Charles Leonard Claussen on October 7, 1950, Linda's life was marked by ingenuity and skill, a wide range of talents, and a strong work ethic, as evidenced by her 30 years of employment at Southwestern Bell. She took pride in her work and was respected by colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond her professional life, Linda dedicated her free time to volunteering in the Springfield Public Schools, where she diligently helped children learn to read. Her commitment to education and literacy was admirable, and she impacted many lives in SPS and beyond.
Linda was an avid reader and crafter, particularly enjoying crochet, and pouring her heart and soul into every project. Her meticulous attention to detail was evident in everything she created.
Linda's character was shaped by her faith. At an early age, she gave her heart to Jesus and became a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She turned to God for strength and comfort, especially during her last days, and spoke fondly of her Heavenly Home.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle, her father, Charles, and sister, Kathy Callahan. Linda is survived by her son, Christopher Mangan; daughter, Sarah Fletcher and spouse, Tracy Fletcher; adored grandchildren, Landon and Clara Fletcher; sister, Barbara Brecheisen; brother, Charles Marx Claussen and spouse, Karen Claussen; and several nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 2-4 PM, at Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, 2026 W Woodland St, Springfield, MO, 65807.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all caregivers, whose kindness and compassion will be forever remembered. Linda Kay Ward will be deeply missed by all those who knew her, but her memory will be a blessing to the same.
