Linda Kay Gruber

Linda Kay Gruber (Weckner), age 81, of Springfield, MO, passed away October 12, 2026. Linda was born in Red Top, MO, on August 13, 1945. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1963. On January 5, 1964, she married Glen "Sonny" Gruber at Hopewell Baptist church. In the years following they had 4 children, moving from Goodson, MO, to Wichita, KS, then Blackwell, OK, to Humansville, MO, then making Urbana, MO, their home. Sundays were special, they would attend church at Mission Ridge then head with family to fish and end the day with a fish fry.

She spent many years as a homemaker before returning to school, attending Vatterott college and joining the workforce. Through the years she enjoyed reading Little House on the Prairie books to her kids, grandkids and then great grandchildren. Once retired, she stayed busy having lunch with the Jolly Janes, scrapbooking and quilting with friends and taking annual trips with her high school girlfriends. Most of all, she cherished spending time with the ones she loved.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny; her mother and father, Lizzie Mae Jackson and Lyal Weckner; her siblings, Jackie Donald and Janet; her son, Timmy Joe; daughter Valerie Rowland; granddaughter, Angel Henry; and 3 great-granddaughters, Ellie, Remi and Adalynn Starr.

She is survived by daughters, Melissa Keith and Lori Mechele McDaniel; son, Ricky Gruber and their spouses; brother, Rick Weckner, 10 grandkids, 13 great grandkids, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

We will celebrate Linda's life at Olive Point Baptist church on December 5th from 11 AM to 3 PM. Please bring a dish for a potluck lunch, look through her scrapbooks and share memories with us.
