Leonard Robert Kenning, age 93, of Ava, MO. He was born December 12, 1928, to Henry and Anna (nee Steckelberg) Kenning in Pomeroy, IA.

L.R. grew up on a dairy farm and was the youngest of six children. He graduated high school and went immediately into the Navy where he served from 1946 to 1949. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Rendova. He was fond of saying he "had been around the world twice before he was 20." L.R. was a hard worker, often working 2 or more jobs simultaneously. During his life he was policeman, restaurateur, salesman, security guard and a truck driver. He owned and operated several, varied businesses throughout his life. His favorite occupation was farming and cattle ranching, he returned to that lifestyle multiple times throughout his life. L.R. loved to garden with tomatoes being his "favorite thing to grow." He also enjoyed woodworking, boating, golfing and bowling. He loved to dance and had an eclectic taste in music, his favorites were Big Band and Country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and spouses and an infant son.

Leonard is survived by his daughters, and step- children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 27th 5:00 p.m - 7:30 p.m. V.F.W. 1136 E Atlantic St. Springfield, MO . Coffee and tea will be provided. This is a Potluck with an emphasis on pie because L.R loved to bake pies and eat pies.

Graveside services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery Thursday April 28th at 3:00 pm with honors.
