Leona Jean "Susie" Steward

Susie Steward, 68, of Springfield, MO, passed away at 5:43 am, Friday, May 19, 2017 in James River Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Susie was born April 25, 1949, in Springfield, MO, the daughter, of Ira Rowen and Emma Jean Alderson. Susie grew up and ended up settling down in Springfield. Susie went on to become a loving and caring wife, sister, mother, grandma and great-grandma.

She was united in marriage to Carlos Steward on March 23, 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Morton and Bobby Joe Anderson; one sister, Ruby Robinson; husband, Carlos; grandson, Steven Dickerson; and her best friend, Shirley Voigt.

She is survived by two brothers, Jim Alderson and wife Linda and Larry Alderson and wife Anita; two children, Jeanette Melton and husband Jerry and David Trammell and wife Ashley; twelve grandkids, Misty, Brittini, Forrest (fiancée Samantha), DJ (wife Amy), Cindy (fiancé Kyle), Dallas (husband Jacob), Cameron, Ashton, Tanlie, Angela, Joseph and Emma; ten great-grandchildren, Haileigh, Riley, Jaiden, Hayden, Jasmine, Madilyn, Kylee, Brayleigh, Karter, and Kiara; as well as four nephews and six nieces.

Susie's family would like to extend a special thank you to nurse Kris of James River Care, along with other aids and med-techs for their dedicated care and support.

No formal visitation or funeral will be held at Susie's request. Her body will be cremated, then put to rest along with Carlos at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
