Leon D. Jenkins was born on August 17, 1932, in Ava, Missouri. He was the son of Ernie and Lora Jenkins. Departed this life Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Leon was united in marriage during June 1996 to Connie Wood. Leon professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized early in life. He was a member of the Phillipsburg Christian Church. He was a graduate of the Missouri University School of Medicine. Leon was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy, during the Korean War. He loved showing Missouri Fox Trotting Horses and was proud to be the official veterinary of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association for 15 years. Dr. Leon thought of his clients and their pets as family.

Leon loved Country Music and never missed hearing his brothers-in-law, Chester and Terry Wood, play music.

Leon was preceded in death by his first wife, Phoebe Charlene Jenkins.

Those left to mourn the passing of Dr. Jenkins include his wife, Connie Wood Jenkins of the home; two daughters, Janet Switzner and her husband Dan and Pamela Underwood and her husband Kim; two sons, Jeff Jenkins and his wife Liz and Mark Jenkins and his wife Kim; his stepson, Brian Henson; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and Doc's many friends!

Services will be held at the Phillipsburg Christian Church, Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to an animal shelter or animal rescue organization of the donor's choosing in honor of Doc.
