Larry Gene Morton, 71, was born November 1, 1942, to Jc Morton and Irene Garrison in Springfield, Missouri. After a battle with cancer he passed away peacefully on March 4, 2014. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1961 and served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 8 years. He was preceded in death by his father, JC Morton. Larry is survived by his wife, Kay Morton; son, Gene Morton and wife Melissa; daughter, Toni Morton; mother, Irene Morton, siblings, Jay Lee Morton, William Wesley Morton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. After many years as a Teamsters Union member and a truck driver at different companies he finally retired from Hiland. He enjoyed camping, traveling, gambling and he loved racing. Racing stock cars at the Fairgrounds, go carts against his son, and spent his later years being his grandson, JC Morton's, biggest fan. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield. In lieu of flowers a donation in the form of a check can be made to Morton Racing at a Great Southern Bank or a cancer charity of your choice.
