IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Joe
Harbottle
December 15, 1951 – August 8, 2021
Larry Joe Harbottle was born on Saturday, December 15, 1951 and was adopted soon after by Joe and Jewel Harbottle. He grew up here in Springfield, MO, in a house his father built not far from Elfindale Chapel. He would later grow up to buy that same house where he would start his own family. Larry was often seen carrying his guitar over his shoulder down the halls of Parkview High School where he graduated in 1970 and met his sweetheart, Gayle Renner, whom he married in 1972. It was a long awaited six years later before the birth of their daughter, Heather Sarena, her Daddy's Sunshine. Being urged by his father in law to get a good job to support his family, Larry began work fresh out of high school at Litton Industries where he engineered and manufactured printed circuit boards in Springfield. He worked there for 18 years. During the 1990's, Larry made it to Regional Sales Manager at ICC Chemicals. From 1999 to 2004, Tim Higgs and he helped start a division at Chemisphere in St. Louis called the Graphic Arts Group where they invented and made their own line of environmentally friendly chemicals for the printing and screen printing industries.
Larry had to retire due to being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He fought and kicked cancer's butt in the early 2000's. Later in 2019, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which he also fought and kicked cancer's butt a second time! He was thrilled to live long enough to see marijuana become legal and was able to enjoy his last days on Earth pain-free. Unfortunately, he was a victim of COVID 19 and a second heart attack from which he did not recover. He passed away at his daughter's home on Sunday August 8, 2021.
Larry is survived in death by his loving family, daughter, Heather Sarena Harbottle Mitchell of Elkland, MO; son-in-law, Stacy L. Mitchell; son: Andrew Joseph Harbottle; step-daughter, Nikki Jo; sister, Debbie Fisher; nephew, Daniel Fisher and his wife, Tina, their two kids, Shyanne and Gage Fisher; grandchildren, Willow Sarena Mitchell, Dawson Stephen Richardson, Katelyn Nicole Mitchell, Melody Paige Mitchell, Abigail Lindsey Mitchell, Daevin Roush Caldwell, and Jarek Bryce Harbottle-Schooling.
Services were held in the Chapel at Elfindale Mansion on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
