Larry Vaughn Getz, 80, of Springfield, MO, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022. He was born in Carthage, MO, on October 18, 1941, to Leonard and Fleda Getz.
From the young age of 3 years old, Larry was a trumpet phenomenon. Music was his passion and through his life he not only traveled throughout the South, but all over the world, playing with famous people and bands, including Martha Reeves. In Springfield, Larry played in the Southern Blues band Granny's Bathwater. He was a true Springfield Legend and a friend to many. When he wasn't playing the trumpet, he enjoyed fishing, especially bass fishing.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Fleda Getz.
He is survived by his son, Rob (Debbie) Getz; grandchildren, Nathan and Brandon Getz, Danyele Hearns, Chelsea Cholley, Brittney Walker, Haley Watson, and Jared Hilton; multiple great grandchildren, family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 pm, March 11, 2022, at the Downtown Church, 413 E. Walnut St. Springfield, MO 65686.
