Lance Charles McKee, 29, passed away May 7, 2015 in Springfield, Missouri. Lance was born October 16, 1985 in West Plains, Missouri to Don W. (Buzz) and Sonja Johnston McKee along with a twin brother, Colby. Weighing only 1 lb 12 oz he came into this world with the heart of a fighter and kept that same fighting spirit up until the last moment of his life. Lance left a lasting impression on anyone who had the chance to meet him, in fact the respiratory therapist who admitted him to the neonatal unit at Cox South Hospital as a baby coincidently was his therapist in the hospital where he spent his final days and she remembered him the moment she saw him. Lance spent several years at Mashburn Residential Center in Bolivar, Missouri where he received the most wonderful and loving care from the staff. Even on his bad days, he always had a smile for those who loved and cared for him and after his passing he was able to donate his corneas to someone in need, making him not only a blessing while he was here on earth but one even after he was gone. Lance is survived by his parents, Don (Buzz) McKee Jr. of Caulfield, and Sonja McKee of Mountain Home, Arkansas; brothers, Jeremy McKee and wife Kasey of Gainesville and Drew McKee and wife Kristen of Caulfield; grandparents, Guy and Betty Johnston of Bakersfield, Missouri and Alice McKee of Caulfield, MO; nephew, Tate McKee and niece, Londyn McKee; as well as several Uncles, Aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Colby McKee; and grandfather, Don McKee. Services to be held at a later date.
