IN LOVING MEMORY OF
La
Brooks
February 12, 1960 – February 12, 2025
From sunrise to sunset. From the beginning to the end.
Celebrating the homegoing of our beloved family member and friend, LA Brooks. LA was born February 12th, 1960, and passed away Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel C. Brooks; mother, Nellie Woods Brooks; and one brother.
He is survived by his beloved children, Salena Dawn Garrison Brooks and Scottie Downing; his significant other, Amber Arnold; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
LA spent his childhood and a portion of his adulthood in St. Louis, Missouri where he was born. He later moved to Springfield, Missouri. LA loved spending time with his children and cooking out. He also loved the finer things in life like shopping with his children. If you ever needed a good laugh or to be cheered up, you could always count on LA.
He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Fly high friend. Fly high.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest,
It broke our hearts to see you go,
God only takes the best.
They say that memories are golden,
Well maybe that is true,
But we never wanted memories,
We only wanted you.
Your life was love and labour,
Your love for your family true,
You did your best for all of us,
We will always remember you.
We sat beside your bedside,
Our hearts were crushed and sore,
We did our duty to the end,
'Til we could do no more.
In tears we watched you sinking,
We watched you fade away,
And though our hearts were breaking,
We knew you could not stay.
Our lips cannot speak how we loved you,
Our hearts cannot tell what to say,
But God only knows how we miss you,
In our home that is lonely today.
