Obituary

Kevin Lee Ratterree ('Rat'), 54, was born May 22, 1964 to Jerry Lee Ratterree and Sandra Kay (Rayhill) Ratterree. Kevin passed away suddenly on the evening of January 6, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Sandra.

He leaves behind a loving wife, Cheryl; 3 children, Brandon and wife Kyla, Robert "BJ" and wife Tracy, and Celena and partner TJ; 5 grandbabies, Liam, Clyde, Owen, Lillian, and a new arrival due in August; brother, Bobby and wife Nancy; sister, Becky and husband Denny; his father, Jerry; and stepmother, Irene Ratterree; and many nephews, nieces and other family members too numerous to name. In addition, he also left behind his sidekick and partner in crime cat, Marvin.

Kevin was a man full of resolve, hard work, outspoken and humor. He ran his own business for most of his adult life. He enjoyed writing, singing, comedy, and took great joy in his tenacious political views. While he spent his childhood in St. Louis, he was born in Houston, MO. When his family moved to Mt. Grove, MO, he didn't last long in the small town and moved back to St. Louis. Eventually he made his way to the Springfield area. He became a dad on January 12, 1994 to Brandon. Shortly after he met his wife Cheryl, he became a stepfather to Robert and Celena.

Kevin spent many years writing music and singing in the Branson area. No one had less fear of stage fright as he. Kevin recorded his first album "Has Anybody Seen My Cowboy Hat" while working at the Hard Luck Diner in 1996. Kevin has continued working and living in Springfield until his death.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the Chapel at Elfindale, 1701 S. Fort Ave, Springfield, MO.
