Obituary

Kenneth Thomas Climer husband of Patsy (Horn) Douglas Climer departed this earthly life on Friday, May 19, 2017, in his home in Seymour, MO, surrounded by family and Faith Hospice. He was seventy one years, seven months, and seventeen days young. One of twelve, he was born Kenneth Thomas Climer on October 2, 1945, in Hartville, MO, to Roy Climer and Vernie Mae (Marah) Climer. Kenneth spent most of his early years in the Hartville, Mansfield area until his family moved to Springfield, MO, where he spent his high school years attending and graduating from Central High School. After high school, he worked various jobs and lived in Iowa with his brother, Dow, until he met and married Rebekah Stokes of Springfield. And from this union three children were born, Leslie Renee, Rebekah Yvonna and Thomas William Roy (T.W.).

On October 14, 1989, he was remarried to Patsy Horn Douglas of Seymour where he and his son T.W made their home with Patsy and her two children, Katrinia Hope and Eric Dewayne Douglas. Kenneth was a true family man in every sense of the word and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family was very important to him. He was a gentle man with a sense of humor and a heart of gold that he shared with everyone.

Kenneth Thomas Climer was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vernie Mae (Marah) Climer; his brothers, Jessie Bert, Walter Dow, William Leroy, Floyd Earl, Bobbie Harold, Clyde Dale; and sisters, Bula Nadeen Klingensmith and Mary Irene Perryman.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patsy of the home; children, Leslie and husband Chris Dye of Lebanon, Yvonna Climer and Jimmy Burns of Springfield, T.W. Climer and wife Melisa of Nixa, two step-children, Katrinia Hope Douglas, Eric and his wife Amanda Douglas of Seymour; eight grandchildren, Jessica Rear of Lebanon, Joseph (J.D) Long, Brandon Dye and wife Zoie, Corey Dye of Springfield, Maleah and Aidan Climer of Nixa, Dakota and Chelsie Douglas; and four great-grandchildren, James, Kenneth, Payton, and Izzabella; three sisters, Maggie Pauline Keith of Mansfield, Bessie Darlene Hatcher of Mansfield, and Shirley Eugene Garrison and husband Woody of Springfield; many nieces and nephews; and many more extended family members, dear friends and neighbors.

Kenney as he liked to be called spent his last years of retirement working for the Webster County Sheriff office under the direction of Sheriff Roye Cole and Cherice Wright as a transport officer of inmates. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family members.

Kenney was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He had a huge heart that was full of kindness towards others. He had so much love for his family and friends and touched our lives deeply. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services will be held Friday May 26, 2017, at 6 PM, in the First Christian Church in Seymour, MO.
