Dr. Ken Leroy Palmer, 62, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully January 16, 2017. He was born September 30, 1954, in Liberty, MO, to Dale and Elizabeth Palmer.
Ken was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Neosho High School, Southwest Missouri State University, University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School and St. John's School of Nursing. He proudly served his country as an officer in the US Navy and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, and aboard the U.S.S. Guadacanal.
Ken was a lifelong Christian and a long-time member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. He loved his Golden Retrievers, Roxie, Daisy & Rascal. Ken enjoyed learning about the Bible, science, watching movies, reading comic books, woodworking projects and was a trivia wizard. He loved his family and considered them the joys of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken is survived by his wife, Toni Palmer; sons, Alexander Palmer and wife Joanna and Samuel Palmer; granddaughters, Juliet and Eleanor; sister, Dalana Wilson and husband Bill; in-laws, Neil and Carol McCall, Nita and Lonnie Schauwecker, Brian and Cynthia McCall, his nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of other family and friends that will miss him greatly.
A celebration of Ken's life will be held at 10 AM, Monday, January 30, 2017, at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 E Cherry St, Springfield, with a reception to follow.
Graveside services will follow at 1 PM, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
