Kathy Jo Chandler peacefully passed away on the afternoon of October 28, 201, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri as the result of complications from a recent illness. Kathy was born on August 11, 1952 in Moberly, Missouri and was the second of three children born to Delbert Russell Dowdy and Mary Lou (Woods) Dowdy. Kathy was a member of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Madison, Missouri. She felt blessed to be a part of such a supportive church family. She was also a member of the Madison Homemakers Club and always enjoyed visiting with her club friends. As an avid reader, Kathy took pleasure in participating in the Book of the Month club at the Atterbury Memorial Branch Library. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chandler; her parents, Delbert and Mary Lou Dowdy; and her brother, Bodie Dowdy. Kathy is survived by two sons and their wives; Joshua and Lindsay Douglas and Bruce and Heather Douglas, of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by two grandsons; Owen Bruce and Rand Boden. A simple memorial service for friends and family to remember and celebrate Kathy will be held at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Madison, Missouri on Saturday, November 2 at 11:30. Donations to the church are welcomed in lieu of flowers. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
