IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katherine
Hargrove
May 15, 1934 – June 4, 2025
Katherine Lois Hargrove, 91, of Springfield, Mo went so peacefully home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Katherine was born to Melvin and Bernice Borders on May 15, 1934, in Dunklin County, Mo.
On September 13, 1952, she married the love of her life, Thomas Richard Hargrove and they were married for 70 years, until Tom went to be with Jesus in 2023. They have two children, Richard "Rick" Hargrove and wife Vicky of Eldon Mo, and Dawn Wiles and husband Mark of Owasso, Ok.
They have 4 beautiful granddaughters, Nikki Hargrove-Long, Mikale Rudstrom (Roger), Kristen Chanda (Timey) and Autumn Parker, (Adrian). They also have 6 great Grandchildren, Gavin Long, LeeAnn, Paul, Eva, and Ellinor Rudstrom and Ezra Parker.
Kate primarily was a homemaker but worked a few jobs outside the home. For a short period of time, she worked at a beauty shop in Brownsville TN. She was the Assistant Manager as well as Manager of Dollar General stores in Trenton and Milan TN, but her main role throughout their marriage was serving alongside Tom for over 65 years in the ministry as a Pastors wife. They pastored 11 churches throughout Missouri and Tennessee. In her early years of ministry, she played the piano in church and sang, but then in her 60's she learned to play drums and bass and used her gifts anywhere that were needed. She was known for being a loving pastor by every church they pastored. She was truly the definition of a helpmate to Tom, and they were a team in everything they did.
Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents, Melvin and Bernice Borders, 2 sisters, Avanell Coday and Bonnie Cookson; one brother, Ken Borders; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ollie and Mabel Hargrove; 5 brothers-in-law, Melvin Coday, Doug Elliott, Donald Hargrove, Carl Hargrove and Doyle Hargrove; and 2 sisters-in-law, DeeAnn Borders and Nona Hargrove.
Kate truly lived out the Proverbs 31 woman. She was an incredible homemaker, cook, encourager and prayer warrior. She was the matriarch of the family, the best Mom, Memaw, Pastors wife and friend, loved by all and her absence on this earth will certainly be felt every day.
A Visitation will be held from 1pm - 2pm on Friday, July 11, 2025, directly followed by a Memorial Service at New Life Church 3077 South Business Highway 65 Hollister, Mo 65672.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
