IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Langley
June 17, 1951 – July 25, 2025
Karen Rae Langley, 74, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 25, 2025. She was born on June 17, 1951, in Jackson County, Missouri, to Robert Leaming and Verna Mae Shipman.
A vibrant and sassy soul, Karen had a spirit as bold as her personality. She lived life with intention and authenticity, always embracing who she was. Karen had a deep love for crafting, cherished her time at Table Rock Lake, and expressed her love through cooking. Preparing meals for others was her love language—whether for family, friends, or anyone who needed a warm plate and a kind heart. Her passion for the kitchen was captured in her self-published cookbook, Ask Karen Rae, a testament to her creativity, generosity, and signature flair.
Above all, Karen loved Jesus. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and sharing the love of Christ with others brought her the greatest joy.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Robert Leaming and his wife Delores; her mother, Verna Mae Shipman and her husband Charles Shipman; and her son-in-law, Eddie Winters.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in her children: daughter Wendy Winters, and son Jerad Langley and his wife Jaime. She was a proud and devoted Mammy to Ashley Rand, Cody Winters, Shelby Winters, Kayla Smith, Zen Langley and Miles Mendes.
Karen is also survived by her sister, Marsha Donovan, and husband Tom; nieces Amanda Donovan and Olivia Donovan, husband Ryan; and their children, Miles and Lila. Her family meant everything to her, and she poured her heart into every relationship.
Karen will be remembered for her funny stories, her generous heart, and her unmistakable zest for life. She made every gathering feel like home and every meal feel like a celebration. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held at Woods Chapel Church, 1040 NE Woods Chapel Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64064, Saturday, August 16th. Visitation: 10:00–11:00 a.m. | Service: 11:00 a.m.
In honor of Karen, share a meal and a little love—just as she always did.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
