Juanita June Cheek, 73, a lifelong resident of Springfield, MO passed away Friday, December 16, 2022. She was born December 19, 1948, to Van and Velma (Potter) Durr.
Juanita loved her husband, family and friends but most of all she loved the Lord. Jesus was her most important relationship and came to know Him at the age of 8. Throughout her life Jesus was her comforter, counselor and most of all savior. She served God and others through her church (Faith Life Church Branson) and her work with organizations like the Fair Haven Children's home. She demonstrated her love through exercising her gifts of seamstress by making many quilts, clothing and anything needed for the nursing homes and children shelters they supported.
Juanita retired from Railway Employees Credit Union after 17 years where she loved and served many but most importantly, she met her husband Jerry there and life began anew. They were married on June 2 nd 1990 and had 32 wonderful years together.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Van and Velma Durr; siblings Cecil, Bobby, Tim, Christine and Patricia.
Juanita lived a full and enriched life and loved her family dearly, she is survived by: Husband - Jerry; Sons, Ken Sheehan (Heather, Claire & Dustin, Julia), Paul Sheehan (Debbie); Daughter Angela Cunningham (Robert, Jacob and Joshua) and Son Jeremy Cheek (Lydia and Natalie). Siblings: Alan, Ron, Marjorie and Rosaline.
Because of her love for children, memorial contributions can be made to Fair Haven Children's Home ( Donate - Fair Haven Children's Home (fairhavenchildrenshome.com) .
And because of their godly service in her last days, similar donations can be made to Terrace Health & Hospice ( Terrace Health and Hospice Springfield | Terrace Health )
The family will host a Memorial Service Saturday Jan. 7th at 10:30 am at Graceway Baptist Church, 5010 S Farm Road 135 Springfield MO.
