Obituary

Joyce Felkner Peterson, on March 09, 2019, transitioned from her earthly life in Springfield, Missouri to join her heavenly family at the age 77. She was born April 25, 1941 to parents Dean and Phyllis Marie (Jennings) Felkner. She was one of their four children.

Joyce attended school in Fordland, Missouri. She then moved to Casper, Wyoming graduating in 1959 from Natrona County High School in Casper. She also lived in Great Falls, Montana and Portland, Oregon before moving back to Springfield, Missouri.

Joyce was hard working and her career in Springfield most notably spanned working many years for Pinnacle Services Corporation at the Springfield Underground, buyer and manager of The Gift Gallery, and store manager of Libson Shops.

She was a very social person that enjoyed being with people. Joyce always had a smile on her face which represented her internal beauty. She was a sweet, gentle, and kind person that loved spending time with her family. She had a thirst for knowledge and owned many books because she liked to read, study, and learn about the world around her.

Joyce was beautiful and modeled in several fashion shows. She also drove custom drag racing cars, winning several trophies in competitions. She enjoyed recreational boating and water skiing at Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri. Her keen interest in horses led her to raise, show, and win competitions with Foxtrotting horses. She supported the Kidney Foundation by participating in numerous "Ride For Life" fund raising trail ride events. She was married first to Raymond "Pete" Peterson in Douglas, Wyoming. Then married secondly to Ken Bruce in Springfield, Missouri.

She is survived by her sister, Deana Felkner Miner and husband, Terry of Ballwin, Missouri; nephews: Blake Miner of Chicago, Illinois and Clark Miner of Independence, Missouri; former husband: Pete Peterson; niece and nephew: Kim and husband, Robert Sickler, and Fred Cook; Numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins living in Colorado, Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dean Felkner and Phyllis Marie (Jennings) White; brother, Junior Felkner; sister, Joan Cook; nephew, Joel Cook; and Step-Father, Delano White.

To honor Joyce Felkner Peterson there will be a Celebration of Life Reception.
