IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joshua Charles
Overath
February 23, 1978 – July 5, 2017
Joshua Charles Overath died peacefully in Barnes Hospital on July 5, 2017, in St. Louis Missouri at the age of 39.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Rosa Overath, Springfield, Missouri; and brother, Jacob Overath and wife Tiffiny Overath, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Christopher Overath, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Joshua was born February 23, 1978, in Rockford, Illinois, to James and Rosa Overath. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1996. After moving to Wisconsin for a period, he settled in Springfield Missouri in 2009. He held several jobs in sales and telemarketing and studied Accounting at Missouri State University.
Family will remember Josh as a sweet and energetic young man. His brother and he bonded over the years of being "gear heads" and loved spending time with their father working on MOPAR's and traveling with the family to Nat's. He was also a dedicated son, caring for his mother Rosa after the death of his father in 2004.
Joshua developed many profound friendships in Springfield and they remember him as a brilliant man who loved his friends and family fiercely. Joshua was an accomplished pool player and managed many leagues and tournaments in the Springfield area. He could always be found at the pool hall with a smile on his face and beer in his hand. You could also always count on him for a joke and a good laugh. More than anything, he wanted to smile and have a good time.
A Celebration of a "Damn Fine Friend" is scheduled for August 19th, at 1 pm in the Crazy Hats Bar, Springfield, Mo. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joshua's life.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations for funeral costs and any condolences to Rosa Overath at 2128 East Mac's Court # 2, Springfield, MO 65804.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jung and the staff at Cox Hospital in Springfield and Barnes Hospital St. Louis for their efforts, care and dedication to Joshua.
