On August 4th, 2021, Joseph (Jay) McAndrew unexpectedly passed away at the age of 57. Jay was born in Chicago Illinois on December 27th 1963, and was the son of Alfred and Dolores (nee Piasecki) McAndrew. Jay grew up in Glenview, Illinois, and attended Glenbrook North High School. At seventeen years old, Jay enlisted in the Military. For most of his adult life he resided in Missouri, but made frequent trips to his hometown.

One of the things Jay was passionate about was painting and restoring classic vehicles. He was interested in many other things, music being one of them. His favorite song was The Unforgiven by Metallica. Jay also enjoyed fishing and swimming in the many lakes and rivers in the surrounding area. Jay was an intelligent, kind hearted person who fell into addiction's grasp at a young age. Despite his battle with addiction, and many health complications, he was determined to not let his shortcomings define him. He lived the last 36 months of his life struggling to stay sober before his passing. During that time he made peace with his past, and with God. He was in the process of making amends and trying to repair broken relationships.

Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores. Jay is survived by his father Alfred; siblings Dee (David) Arnold, and Patrick McAndrew; children Joseph (Sara) McAndrew, Melissa (Jeff) Peck, Shannon (Timothy) McAndrew, Michael (Erika) McAndrew, and Vera Rose Joern; and seven grandchildren.

Jay will be remembered dearly by many friends, family and loved ones.

A visitation will be held from 2-6 PM, Friday, August 13, 2021, at Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, 2026 W. Woodland, Springfield MO

Celebration of life will be had at a later date in Illinois with immediate family.
