Obituary

Johnny "Bob" Curry, 83, of Bolivar, MO, passed away in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO, December 11, 2016. He was born May 7, 1933, in Eagle Rock, MO, the son of Ray and Ada Curry.

Bob was one of the few but proud democrats in Polk County. He loved cats, metal detecting, collecting coins, eating biscuits and gravy, participating in the Optomist Club, and being a Fire Chief for Bolivar. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church and Church bus driver for nine years. He always remarked that everything happened to him in May; like entering into the army in May of 1953, moving to Tulsa, and mostly importantly marrying Kay Shumaker on May 26, 1955.

Bob went on to become a Sinclair Agent, own Tri-County Asphalt, a Paving Company, and being the caretaker of the Dunnegon Park and Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Curry.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Curry; daughter, Tina Sullivan and husband Pete; son, Ryan Curry; grandson, Hunter Sullivan; and many special friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, December 16, 2016, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield will full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Kitchen, 1630 N Jefferson Ave, Springfield, MO 65803. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date this coming spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
