Obituary

John Charles Riedel, a beloved father, brother, uncle, friend and partner passed away on October 10, 2022.  He was 48 years old.  John was born in Roseville, Michigan.  He lived most of his childhood in East Detroit, Michigan, before moving to Peoria, Arizona, in 1986.  John relocated to Springfield, Missouri, in 2004, and began working for LCS Kleen Aire Services.  He remained with LCS until his passing.  During this long career, John developed many close friendships.  He loved to go bowling, go to the movies and play board games with family and friends.  He enjoyed walking his German Shepherd, Koda on the Greenway Trails.  John was known for his quick-witted humor and his devotion to his family and friends.

John is survived by his daughter, Melanie Riedel, his son, John Riedel, Jr., and his stepson, Terry White.  He is predeceased by his father, Robert Riedel, his mother, Marian Tichy, and his sister, Kim Addis.  He is survived by his brothers, Robert Riedel (Brenda), James Riedel, Joseph Addis (MaryAnne), William Tichy (Adrienne), Thomas Tichy (Ann), Timothy Tichy (Bonnie) and many nieces and nephews.

He is also remembered with love by the mother of his children, Michele Maltese, his former partner, Shelly Blackston, her granddaughters, Bailee and Gracelynn, who lovingly called him Papa John, and closest friends, Mike and Holly McCollum and Steve and Tammy Childers.

Taken far too soon, John will be remembered in so many special memories and in the love of family and friends.  He will be forever in our hearts.

There are no services planned at this time. However, in lieu of flowers, it was John's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Donations are accepted online at stjude.org or by mail to Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
