Obituary

John George McGee, Jr. entered his heavenly home on March 14, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

John was born on April 17, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Midred (Fegley) and John George McGee, Sr. He graduated from Darby-Colwyn high school in June of 1972. Three months later, he married the love of his life, Patricia Arlene (Damanskis) McGee and they were married 45 years. They moved to Ozark, Missouri in 1984 and John made his career with Kraft Foods for 23 years and with St. John's Hospital after retirement.

John is survived by his wife, Patricia of Nixa, Missouri; his children, Erin Patricia Wall and her husband Ryan of Coffeyville, Kansas; Kyle Peter McGee and his wife Jennifer of Clever, Missouri; and Shannon Elizabeth McGee of Hollister, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Brennon, Gavin, Fletcher, Caroline, Evan, Zoe, Jocelyn, Annalise, and Finn; his sisters, Chippie Committee & Shirley Ratchford of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania ; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Melanie.

John and Pat were members of James River Church, where he served as a car parking attendant prior to his failing health. He loved talking with everyone, sharing his booming, infectious laughter, and serving others. He wanted to help those in need, and one of his fondest memories was when he and a group from church went to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. He enjoyed grilling, watching sports, playing Pinochle, and being with his family and friends, who affectionately called him "Monk" or "Philly". His heart was with those he loved, and he was never happier than when he and his family were at the beach.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Barnes-Jewish Hospital who treated them like family during the lengthy recovery following John's heart transplant.

There will be visitation at Clark Chapel at James River Church in Ozark on Tuesday, March 20th at 1:00 with services to follow at 2:00. The family gratefully accepts memorial donations to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. They ask you honor John by giving a gift far beyond monetary donations, please become an organ donor in his memory.

" He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
