John Long Jr, 57, died on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was born October 19, 1956, in Norfolk, Virginia, to John Long Sr. and Barbara Jean Kincaid. On June 20, 1980 he married Peggy Sue Adams. He worked for the YMCA officiating games for youth. John Long Jr was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Long; foster mother, Bernice Heafley; foster brothers, David Blackburn and Larry Heafley; and nephew, Josh Greene. John is survived by his wife, Peggy; two daughters, Samantha Long and Cindy Smothers and husband Jason, of Lebanon; father, John Long Sr of Lebanon; two sisters, Jeannie Dismang and husband Rick and Juanita Sperry of Conway; two brothers, Kenny Long and wife Melissa of Lebanon and Bob Butts of Springfield; as well as other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held from 1-4 PM, on Saturday, February 1, 2014, in the Washington Christian Church, Lebanon, MO. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
