Obituary

John Hardy Kimmons, 56 years of age, died in his home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born on October 22, 1960, to David Lee Kimmons and Janice Marie Stewart, in Aurora, Illinois. He was the second of five children. Although the family moved around a lot, Missouri eventually became his home.

He loved to fish and enjoyed that past time with family and friends. He loved nature and being in the woods. He liked to hunt. He loved his dogs and always seemed to have one for companionship. He enjoyed gardening and growing things. He loved working with his hands. Even though he developed Ankylosing Spondylitis in his twenties and eventually became disabled by it, he did not let that keep him from living his life to the fullest. He could work on anything, cars, his boat, mowers. He built fences and garden beds and little green houses for practically year round spinach. Even after he broke his neck and healed from that, he built a small cabin in the woods for a friend and was in the process of starting a chicken house at his home. He was a wonderful example of having a positive attitude and not letting things get him down. No matter what kind of pain he might have been in, if he found something amusing, you would see a grin on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the assured expectation of what is hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities that are not seen." John had that kind of faith in Jehovah's promises. He was convinced of the paradise earth as mentioned in Psalms 37:10, 11. He had faith for the end of pain and death as promised in Revelation 21: 3, 4. And he truly believed in the resurrection hope as promised at John 5: 28, 29.

John is survived by his wife Natalie Kimmons, his sons Joshua Kimmons, Casey and wife Sarah Garton, his father Dave Kimmons and wife Evon, his mother Janice Stewart, his sisters Diane Kimmons, Mary Beth Dickson and husband Stu, Amy Stafford, brother Dave (Boomer) Kimmons, step brother Nathan Kimmons, step brother and sister Jeremy and Jessica Stuart, many nieces, nephews and friends.
