JOHN LEONARD BUTTRAM, son of Herbert Eugene Buttram and Joann Lapham, was born August 31, 1963, in Joliet, Illinois, and departed this life November 30, 2018, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-five years.

Following high school, John joined the United States Navy and proudly served our country for nine years. Near the end of his second tour, John and his fellow shipmates were part of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield in the Persian Gulf. His ship was in part, responsible for the near impossible task of keeping the Persian Gulf sea lanes clear of mines.  For his service in the United States Navy, John received numerous service awards and commendations.

After his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, John returned home and worked various manufacturing jobs until his cancer diagnosis in September, 2018.

In his free time, John enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves to celebrate his memory, his mother, Joann Lapham. One sister, Deb Mayhew and brother-in-law, Matt Mayhew of Marshfield, MO. One brother, Don Buttram and sister-in-law, Ronna Buttram of Lebanon, MO, along with several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his Father; Herbert Eugene Buttram, and one brother, James Angus Buttram.

Those who knew John will forever cherish his memory. He will be greatly missed.

John's memorial service will be held from 11 am - 1 pm, Saturday, December 15, at the Social Grove, 1235 Spur Dr, Suite 105, Marshfield, MO 65706.
