Joan Y. Richards passed peacefully at home June 20th 2021. She was born in Kansas City, Mo. July 5th, 1933 to Carl and Fay Yent.

Her death was preceded by her younger sister Kay Geier, older brother Clarence Yent, and a nephew Michael Steven Geier. Her ex husband William Allen Richards passed in 2015. She leaves behind one son, John Franklin Richards of Fair Grove, Mo. and two grandsons, Austin John Richards and Schuyler Sean Richards, as well as a niece Cindy Geier Balch.

Joan was a graduate of the University of Missouri and took a job at TV Guide upon graduation. She was later employed by Bendix for several years. She completed her teaching certificate and became a 5th grade teacher in 1968. She would teach 5th grade at Meadowmere School in Grandview until her retirement in 1998. Post retirement her life evolved around her grandkids and she loved every minute of it. As did they.

She will be missed by many and was a true hero to those that knew and loved her. Godspeed Mom!
