Jimmy Lee Ray, age 63, died at Mercy Hospital Saturday, March 26th, 2022, after a long battle of lung disease. He was born June 28, 1958, the son of James Edward and Velma Louise Ray.

Survivors include his fiancé, Carol A. Burgess; his daughter, Alisia Renea Cox of North Carolina; his sons, Dexter Kane Ray and JL Spencer Ray both of Springfield; his mother Velma Louise (Turner) Ray of Springfield; two sisters, Sandy and Tina both of Springfield; one brother, Ricky of Springfield; three beautiful granddaughters; two proud grandsons and a precious great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Cory Shane Ray; his father, James Edward Ray and a brother, Johnny Ricco.

Jimmy had a talent and a love for music. He would sing every night, doing karaoke and being with friends. His special friend and love of his life was his dog, Cookie. They had a very special bond. He also loved traveling and reading about the history of the musicians that wrote the songs he loved to sing.

Jimmy will be missed very much, but we rejoice knowing that he is now in the presence of our Lord and singing in the heavenly choir.
