Obituary

Jimmie "Jim" Gayle Tackkett was born in Houston, MO to George and Norma Tackkett on November 6, 1953.

Jim served in the Navy from 1971 to 1975. While stationed on the USS Hancock he enjoyed passing the time by taking up the sport of boxing. When he got out of the Navy, Jim went to work in the garage door industry. In 1992 he was able to achieve his dream of owning his own business. He opened Midwest Door of Lebanon and was the owner and operator there for many years.

Jim had a passion for drag racing and raced from the early 80s through the late 90s. His children have many happy memories watching their dad race. It wasn't uncommon for him to travel to different towns and states to participate. He also loved joining traveling teams for slow pitch softball games and tournaments. Jim also enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer and turkey hunting season.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Norma; and a brother, Ricky.

He is survived by his son, Derek and wife Taylor; his daughter Erin Tackkett; his grandchildren, Brenton, Landon, Maraya and Maya; and his siblings, Rosetta Boggs and Howard Tackkett.

Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while in the hospital before his passing on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the age of 68.

He will be remembered for his big smile, tight hugs and fast cars.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, March 27th, 2022, at the Ozark Raceway, Rogersville, MO.
