James (Jim) Judd Brackney died on May 24, 2023, in a motorcycle accident less than a mile from home.
Jim grew up most of his life in Kansas and lived in Colorado while he was in high school. At age 17, he moved to Missouri and lived in the Springfield area for the remainder of his life.
Over the years, he had many careers such as welding, logging and beef production. He was also an amateur kickboxer and professional boxer in his mid-twenties. For the last 13 years of his life, Jim was a respiratory therapist, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. He enjoyed helping his fellow man. Jim enjoyed riding Harleys and spending time with his family in his free time. He was also a bourbon collector and connoisseur. Jim was a hardworking, down to earth, family man who loved God and his country. He was madly in love with his wife, adored his children and grandchildren, and placed high importance on family.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Chuck" Brackney; his sister, Sarah Brackney; and his son, James "Little Jim" Brackney.
He is survived by his wife, Brandi Brackney; sons, Grady and Cash Brackney; stepdaughter, Nichole Stephenson; and grandchildren, Blane Jones and Havyn Miller. He was also survived by his mother, Jeanne Palmer; brothers, Charley Brackney, John Brackney, Chris Brackney, David Brackney, Mickey Palmer and Bryan Palmer; and his sisters, Kate Brackney, Aerial Liese, Gypsy Brackney, Kelly Cannady, Amy Miller and Lesley Rodriguez.
