James Sims, 73 years 50 days, passed away at home in Springfield, MO, Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Jim was a devoted husband of 34 years to Gabrielle B. Sims, the proud father of four children and seven grandchildren. Born in Waco, Texas on September 1, 1942 to the late Marshall and Mazie Sims. Jim grew up and attended schools in Waco, TX and Glendale, CA. He graduated in 1960 from Glendale High School, CA. Then joined the U.S. Navy to train in electronics and computers. He married Sue Davis in 1961 had four children, divorced 1977. His career spanned forty-five years in the super mainframe computer business. He worked for Control Data Corporation, General Electric Computer Services, and IBM (where he retired in 2006). In that time, he held positons of Customer Engineer, Support Engineer, District Manager, Regional Manager and Area Manager. Jim love to travel. He and Gabrielle were blessed to have lived in Cairo, Egypt for five years, and to have traveled over Europe, the Far East, and all over the USA. Jim is survived by his wife, Gabrielle; daughter, Sindy and husband Jon Rodenmayer of Dallas, TX; daughter, Katharine and husband Ed Tinnerman of Dallas, TX; daughter, Robin and husband Jim Jones of Red Oak, IA; son, Marshall and partner T. Jackson of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren, John, Stephen and Jamie Rodenmayer, Devin Hennen, Stephanie, Austin and Dustin Jones; three step-sisters, Pat Stroud, Ruth Newell, Kath Leah Owens; along with many other loving extended family members and friends. Services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 26, 2015, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full Military Honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oxford Hospice, c/o Randy Cantrell.
