James Patrick Lewand, 67, of Monett, MO, passed away on April 6, 2023, from cancer. His daughter was by his side. He was born on April 9, 1955, in Cleveland, OH and was proceeded in death by his parents, Rose Deegan and Stanley Lewand.

Having grown up in the Cleveland area, Jim graduated from high school and joined the Army. Following honorable discharge, he moved to Springfield, MO where he attended college, met and married Andrea, his wife for 26 years. They had one daughter. Jim enjoyed gardening, landscaping, woodworking, and baking, but his daughter and her family were his pride and joy. He was a generous, kind, and humble man who touched so many lives without even knowing it himself. He will be missed by so many.

He is survived by his daughter, Lesley Ann Welters; her husband, Gary; and four grandchildren, Caydance, Vincent, Lawrence, and Lyla Welters all of Verona, MO; one sister, Lesley Donley of Denver, CO; two nephews, Matthew Donley, Jonathan Donley and their families in CO; along with other cousins, loved ones, and lifelong friends, including James McMahon of Texas and Hank Stankiewicz of Ohio.

Services will be held in the Springfield National Cemetery with full military honors Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm.
