Obituary

James H. "Jim" Hendricks,  88,  passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on Friday, November 24, 2017, surrounded by family. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Monday November 27 at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 pm on Tuesday, November 28, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 West 71st Street, Overland Park, KS.

Jim was born March 13, 1929 in Axtell, Kansas to Elmer and Louise Hendricks. He graduated from Baker University, and served our country in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. He met Elizabeth Ann Griesemer while teaching, and they married in June of 1952.  Jim was an active member of Queen of the Holy Rosary parish, and the Overland Park Community. He loved to sing and was known for his beautiful voice. He was active in too many societies, theatrical performances and community service activities to mention them all but you remember him because he was generous of spirit, kind of heart, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Boone family members, brother Bill, and sister Helen.  Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth and their 6 children: Maggie, Jim, Ann, Bill, Dan and Mary, He will be greatly missed by his many friends, extended family including adoring in laws,nieces and nephews, and especially his children, their spouses, 18 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
