James Arthur Choate Obituary

James "Jim" Arthur Choate, 76, of Niangua MO, passed away in his home August 6, 2024. He was born to Clyde and Eunice (Rowden) Choate on May 24, 1948, and was their only child.

He retired from Strafford Schools where he worked as a bus driver and bus mechanic.

He enjoyed restoring classic cars and participating in car shows, watching NASCAR and talking on the phone with family and friends.

Jim was a man who loved his family and friends, and doted on his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he was immensely proud of. He was excited to find out another great grandchild was arriving in December.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Eunice Choate.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Evelyn; daughters, Sharon Choate and Brenda Shawley; son, Jimmy and fiancée Melissa; grandchildren, Ronnie (Amber) Shawley, Shelby (Cole) Perry, Bowen Goodwin and fiancée Athena; as well as great-grandchildren Nala, Rylee and Briley. Per his wishes, Jim will be cremated at Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services. Services will be determined at a later date.
