James "Jim" Dale Baker, 84, passed away in Republic, Missouri on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was born on August 8, 1939, in Rogersville, Missouri. to Herbert and Helen Baker. He had four sisters, a brother, and a stepbrother.

Jim enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1956. He loved anything outdoors, but especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved teaching anyone who wanted to learn his favorite hobbies.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Baker; his father, Herbert Baker; grandmother, Maude Turner Smith; his mother, Helen Foster; his stepfather, Arthur Foster; sisters, Juanita Cooper and her husband Bill, Jewel Swanson and her husband Andy, and Wanda Burks and her husband Jim Payne; brothers, Kenneth Baker and his wife Mildred and Dale Foster and his wife Doris.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julie Smith Baker; his sons; Randy Baker and wife Debbie from Portland, Oregon, John Baker and his wife Georgina from Ozark, Missouri; and his daughters, Mindy Amberg and husband David from Tully, New York and Shelly Corwin with whom he lived and received care from for the last 20 years;  his granddaughters, Katie, Kathryn Corwin and her significant other Joe, Kassie Gallea and her husband Jared, Jennifer and husband Cameron, plus two other granddaughters; his grandsons, Nathan and Joe; his 4 great-grandchildren from Portland, Oregon; and great-grandchildren, Malakai, Dominic, and Kinsley all of Republic, Missouri. He also has one surviving sibling, Delores McClish of Springfield, Missouri; along with several nieces and nephews.
