Irene Barbara Federonis, 86, of Nixa, MO passed away Friday, September 6, 2024. She was born July 30, 1938, to George and Helen Federonis in Albany, NY.

She served in the military for the Women's Army Corps and worked as an aerospace electrical installer for Lockheed and Northrop-Grumman, working on the L-1011, F-117 stealth fighter and B-2 stealth bomber. She enjoyed reading, traveling, painting (oil and acrylic) and doing driftwood sculptures. Mostly, she loved dogs and owned multiples at a time throughout her life.

People who knew her well describe her as stubborn and impulsive, but also exceedingly generous. She had a strong sense of humor, which was, on occasion, inappropriate.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lawrence Federonis; and her sister, Rosalind Noonan.

Irene is survived by daughter, Robin Valaitis-Heflin; son-in-law, Dennis Heflin; sister, Georgina Diehl; and nephew, James Noonan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
