IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert Hans
Peters
April 21, 1932 – July 7, 2017
Herbert Hans Peters was born April 21, 1932 in Lester, IA to Hans and Christine Peters. In 1938, the family moved to their own farm near May City where he grew up doing chores and working on the farm. His service in the Army from 1954-56 was spent primarily in Panama. He continued farming with his dad, brother, and on his own raising crops and livestock before and after the Army.
Herb and his wife Jill moved to San Diego, CA in 1985 where he owned and operated his own business. As members of Shadow Mountain Community Church, they made many friends through Bible studies and family group functions. His farming ability aided by the southern California weather allowed for beautiful plants and flowers in the yard year round. Family visits to their home included dining outside to enjoy the beauty and weather.
In 2015, after 30 years in California, Herb and Jill retired and chose to move to Branson, MO as they loved and enjoyed the area. Herb kept busy and active taking care of the yard and property as well as taking time to watch the lake activity.
He passed away on July 7, 2017 after a brief hospitalization. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Roy, Elmer, and Ernest; and his daughter, Teri Gruenig. Herb is much loved and survived by his wife of 42 years, Jill; sons and their families: Steve of Hartley, IA, John of St. Louis, MO, Tony of Seattle, WA; stepson, Brian Daugherty of Omaha, NE; 7 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; sister, Louise Gaunt of Golden, CO; and other relatives and friends.
Burial, with military honors, will take place on September 1, 2017, at 1 PM, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Memorials may be sent in Herb's name to Turning Point Ministries at davidjeremiah.org
