Obituary

Rev. Henry Marion Addison Jr, age 87, of Springfield, MO went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Henry was born November 29, 1934, in Stockton, MO, to Henry "Hank" Marion Addison Sr and Minerva "Nell" Isabelle (Fleeman) Addison. He attended Amity school through the 8 th grade and graduated from Stockton High School in 1953. Henry accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age and surrendered to the ministry in 1956. He attended Southwest Baptist College graduating in 1958 with an AA and later in 1969 with a BS. He received his MDiv from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City in 1973. Henry always felt called by God to serve the rural church. During his 50+ years of ministry he pastored several small Southern Baptist churches in Southwest MO and the Sedalia area. In addition, Henry served as an interim pastor at Faith Christian Church in Blue Springs while in seminary and also pastored at Rehm's Park Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, KS. After retiring from full-time ministry, he continued to serve the church by teaching Sunday School and serving in various ministries including Campers On Mission. Having moved to Springfield in 2017, he and Mabel became active members of South Haven Baptist Church and have been involved in Sunday School and Bible study which he thoroughly enjoyed.

On June 7, 1959, Henry married the love of his life, Mabel Ruth Pruitt, at Elm Grove Baptist church in Richland, MO. Besides the love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Mabel's love was the most important thing to Henry. To this union 3 daughters were born and he often joked that he knew what it was like to live in a girl's dormitory. Henry had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed life. He loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid gardener, an excellent woodworker, and great at fixing just about anything. He and Mabel together supplemented their income over the years by doing upholstery and drapery for many individuals and businesses. He loved his family well, spending as much time as he could with his girls, his sons-in-law, their kids and grandkids. Relationships were important to him and he valued his extended family and his many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James Addison, Betty Stark, Martin Addison, Bill John Addison, Mary Shurtz and Michael Addison. His survivors include his wife of 63 ½ years, daughters and sons-in-law Rebecca and Ken Keltner of El Dorado Springs, MO, Miriam and Wilbur Durnell of Weaubleau, MO and Martha and Kent Dinsdale of Rolla, MO. He is also survived by grandchildren, Zane (Rachel) Durnell, Zach (Leah) Durnell, Valerie (Ryan) Hubbard, Tyler (Whitney) Dinsdale, Wade (Shannon) Keltner, Andrew Dinsdale Claxton, Tanner (Anne) Dinsdale, Trevor (Ellen) Dinsdale, Trustin Dinsdale and 20 great-grandchildren: Addison, Blane & Chase Durnell, Cooper, Zoe & Kyron Durnell, Isaac, Grace, Kate & Evelyn Hubbard, Zeke, Harlow & Blake Dinsdale, Thomas, Joshua, Anna & Silas Keltner and Gunnar, Wren & Axel Dinsdale. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
