Obituary

Hazel Ann (Burns) Hammett, 70, of Forsyth, Missouri, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend left her corruptible body for her incorruptible one on June 27, 2017. Hazel was born in Taneyville, MO, where she lived for most of her life. She was a bright light with a ready smile, a helping hand and the most compassionate heart to all who she encountered. Hazel had many jobs during her life, but she truly thrived as a wife, mother and grandmother; she loved to sing, work for the Lord with her church family and serving others in any capacity she could.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gary J. Hammett; three children and their spouses, Karen Ann (Hammett) Hill and husband Jack, Rebecca Sue (Hammett) Cuming and husband John, Christopher Joe Hammett and wife Laura; siblings, Howard Burns and wife Helen, Bobby Burns, Janet Flannery and husband Everett, Helen Soutee, Shirley Lewis and husband James, Phyllis Poche and Ed Marshall and wife Carol; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Brett and Devon Hill with daughter Hinley, Dillon Hill, Brenna and Antonio Marin with son Alex and daughter Lily Eva Hazel, Darby Hill, Brandon Cuming, Braylon Cuming, Brannon Cuming and Hannah Brown and daughter Olivia Ann, Morgan Cuming, Emma Lee Wilkinson, Chandler Wilkinson, Megan Wilkinson and Sadie Wilkinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lily Violet Morgan and husband Garland; father, John Chester Burns; father-in-law, Fandy Earl Hammett; two mothers-in-law, Emma Nell Hammett and Juanita Jo Marshall; and three brothers-in-law, David "Butch" Poche, Jerry Hammett, Gary Soutee, and Jeff Dalton.

A celebration of Hazel's life will be Saturday, July 1, 2017, from 12:00~3:00 PM, with a memorial Service at 3:00 PM, in New Beginnings, A Pentecostal Fellowship in Taneyville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hazel's memory to the New Beginnings Building Fund, PO Box 25, Taneyville, MO, 65679.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
