George Ray Hughes

George Ray Hughes, 74, a lifelong resident of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 12:04 AM. He was born September 22, 1952, to Nelly and Lonnie Hughes.

He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Linda Hughes, for many wonderful years. Together, they shared countless lifelong experiences and adventures, starting with a construction company and later owning a bar named Xanadu—a dream Linda had always cherished. George was known to many as a true friend who knew no stranger; he always saw the good in people and made sure to find the silver lining in every situation. Above all, George was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Hughes; his mother, Nelly; his father, Lonnie; his stepfather, Jerry; and his brothers, Danny, Tommy, and Louis Hughes.

He is survived by his children: Jimmy Young and his wife Dena, Ronda Boyer, Marlana Kimmis and her husband Mike, and Junior Hughes and his wife Amanda. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom he deeply loved, as well as his brother, sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
