Obituary

Gary Lynn Rushing, 67, of Springfield, MO, passed away tragically from a motorcycle accident, June 29, 2018. He was born October 12, 1950, in Everton, MO, to Guy and Lorene Rushing.

Gary served in the United States Army and received many medals and awards. He enjoyed Martial Arts, preserving the history of Route 66, and was an avid motorcycle rider. Gary was generous, kind, and had a huge heart. He was very proud of his country, his college degree, his family, and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, James Rushing.

Gary is survived by his wife, Suni Rushing; son, Mike Rushing and wife Heather; special friend, Kiwi Cone; grandchildren, Bailey, Dominic, Peyton, Ashton, Noah and Landon Rushing and Sarah Schnelle; brothers, Joe, Mike, Kennie and Robert Rushing; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Rushing; many nieces, nephews and cousins; the AKA Crew MC; his fellow military brothers of the United Nations Command 8th Army Honor Guard; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM, with services following at 11:30 AM, Friday, July 6, 2018, in the James River Church North Campus, 3225 N Farm Road 123, Springfield, MO 65803 . Graveside services will follow at 2 PM, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will continue to celebrate Gary's life after the services at the Barn House Event Center, 5484 W Sunshine, Brookline, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at Simmons Bank, 210 N West Bypass, Springfield, to assist with expenses. Please make checks or money orders out to Daniel Rushing and in the memo line please list Gary Rushing Memorial Fund.
