Garth Andrew Church, age 62, a lifelong resident of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was born on June 17, 1963, in Springfield to Lindell and Susan Church.

Garth graduated from Glendale High School and continued his education in both Texas and Missouri. He later became self-employed, working in paintless dent removal, a trade he took pride in and worked at for many years.

Garth had a big heart and a warm smile for everyone he met. He loved to talk, but he was also a thoughtful and attentive listener. Those who knew Garth knew they could often find him at WF Cody's in the evenings, playing pool with friends and enjoying good conversation. He was always quick to greet you with a smile, a hug, and an invitation to join him for a game. Garth truly had a kind and generous soul.

He is survived by his former wife and the mother of his son, Leslie Claxton; his brother, Steve Hartstein and wife Lisa; his stepsister, Lindy Fielder and husband Bryan; his stepbrother, Steven Clifton and wife Christa; nephew, Adam Hartstein and a host of dear friends, especially his friends from WF Cody's.

Garth was preceded in death by his son, Sean Alexander Church; his brother, Lance Church; his sister, Lesley Church; his father, Lindell Church; his mother, Susan Tinsley; his grandparents; and his former wife, Cynthia Roth.

Garth will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. The family extends special thanks to the staff and friends at WF Cody's for hosting a special gathering and candlelight toast on January 9, and for providing Garth with a welcoming community and a place of connection and belonging.
