Fred Wayne Earnhardt, 74, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side January 27, 2017. He was born January 3, 1943, in Springfield, MO, to Shelby and Laura Earnhardt. Fred married Carolyn on August 9, 1967, and they have shared nearly 50 years together.

Fred enjoyed fishing, gardening, repairing old cars, and spending time with his family. He retired from Kraft Foods after many years of working as a maintenance mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Shelby Earnhardt Jr and Wanda Burks.

Fred is survived by his wife, Carolyn Earnhardt; daughters, Gwen Lyon, Dianna Holt and husband Steve, Melissa Earnhardt and Regina Earnhardt; grandchildren, Danny, Bryan and Jacob Lyon, Christopher, Trenten, Latasha and Devin Earnhardt and Dylan Holt; and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Tre, Jordan, Morgan and Jayleen.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Oxford Hospice especially Steven and Chaplain Clyde for their care, love, and support during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, 2026 W Woodland St, Springfield, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or Oxford Hospice.
