"Eric Alan Whittington, 50, of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on December 9,1973 to Carroll and Cheryl Whittington in Wichita, KS.

As a child in Texas, Eric liked to ride bicycles and dirt bikes, as well as playing pranks on the neighborhood. Eric graduated from Pierce City High School in 1992, where he enjoyed playing football and lifting weights. He was always trying to make people laugh, and his laughter was infectious. After high school, he briefly went into the United States Marine Corps, a lifelong dream of his, but was ultimately discharged due to an injury. Eric had recently become a member in the Heavy Construction Laborers' Local Union 663 and was very proud of that. He enjoyed working with his hands, and his most recent hobby was fractal burning wood. He loved being in nature, and he especially loved his mom's home cooking! Eric never had any children. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Eric Jason Bowling, his father Carroll Junior Whittington, and his brother Lance Ray Whittington.

Eric is survived by his mother, Cheryl Kimbell; his sister, Melissa (Micah) Ruthrauff; "brother", Mick Heist; sister, Amanda (Brian) Cave; his long-time girlfriend, Kristy Lujan; and her children, Kinna and Drake Lujan; as well as many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great nieces.
