ElRue Alldredge Stowell
May 3, 1947 – March 11, 2026
ElRue Alldredge Stowell, a devoted daughter of God and a vibrant educator, returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on May 3, 1947, ElRue’s life was a beautiful tapestry of passion, creativity, and a steadfast commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
On June 20, 1970, ElRue was united in marriage to her eternal companion, Clyde Stowell. For 55 years, they walked hand-in-hand, sang folk songs together, and shared a deep devotion to their family.
A dedicated school teacher for 44 years, ElRue viewed her profession as a sacred calling. She blessed the lives of thousands of children, teaching them to read and helping them find joy in math. She was a passionate teacher who lived for those "lightbulb moments" when a student’s eyes would shine with the spirit of discovery. Her creative heart ensured that every child felt valued and capable.
ElRue was a true example of Christlike service, giving generously of her time and many talents to her community and her faith. She loved the beauty of the outdoors, the quiet peace of a jigsaw puzzle, cats, and sharing music with her family. In a final act of comfort, she will be laid to rest with her favorite stuffed cat, Blackie.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Clyde Stowell; her son, Tim Stowell; her daughter, Deanna Carpenter; and her sons-in-law, Ryan Marzo and Ken Carpenter. She was the fun-loving and proud grandmother of Blake, Leo, and Jasper Carpenter. She also leaves behind her two older sisters and lifelong friends, Marsha Brown and Jolinda Nickle.

A graveside service and burial of ashes will take place on May 2, 2026, in Oak City, Utah, where she will be laid to rest among family.
Memorial Donations
In keeping with ElRue’s life of service and her passion for literacy, the family requests children’s books be donated in lieu of flowers. These will be gifted to a local nonprofit to help children discover the gift of reading, ensuring ElRue’s legacy of teaching continues to shine.
