IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth
Simons
May 18, 2020 – October 17, 2020
Elizabeth, "Liz Anne" Simons left this world peacefully on October 17, 2020.
Several years ago, Liz Anne, being a lover of all creatures, tried to avoid hitting a deer on her way to work. Her truck rolled several times and she was airlifted in critical condition but survived. The latent injuries she sustained caused her to suffer these past few years and her family is thankful she can now rest without pain.
Liz Anne was born on May 18, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri to parents, William Howard Worthey and Pansy Mae Worthey, the youngest of 4 daughters, and was named after her grandmother, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Anderson. She graduated from Willard High School and attended Drury College. She worked for State Representative Harry Blackwell in Jefferson City and later at the Walmart and Convenient Care Pharmacies in Aurora and Springfield.
She found an enduring love when she met Don Simons and they married on December 7, 1984.
Their combined family included daughters, Sunnie, Sonya Lawrence and her husband Steve of Deltona, Florida; son, Andy and his wife Leanne of Nixa MO; and grandchildren, Tim Kemp and his domestic partner Jen Manci of Lexington, Kentucky, Hayden Steelman of Ozark, MO, Morgan, Alexander, Cameron, William, and Maddison Simons of Nixa, MO. Also granddaughter Amelia whom they raised as their own child.
Don and Liz lived in Billings, Missouri, on an acreage where there were many 4-legged species including a pot-bellied pig. Liz Anne always loved her pets and a good story that fed her need for humor. She loved Don and was devoted to him. After Don passed away in 2019, her desire to live was nearly extinguished and there is comfort knowing that they are reunited once again.
Liz Anne is survived by her sisters, Wilma Gay Worthey Wilson, Cherlyn Worthey Smith, and Carolyn Worthey Smith, and the aforementioned children and grandchildren.
